Hello, my name is Loretta Henry. I am a proud descendent of Tagalaka and Djungan people in north Queensland gulf country, where my father and grandmother were born. My mother gifted me with Irish heritage.
I am passionate about the Arts and I've been active in theatre production and presentation since returning from abroad in 1993. Elysium Theatre was established in 1999 and aims to present quality theatre in Brisbane. My other creative interests lie in the written word; Children's Picture Books, poetry, plays, puppet-making & short film-making. So here is the home of Elysium Arts and Elysium Theatre. |
The pages that follow hold some of my body of work. It's a bit of an assortment but at least some of it is in one place. Thanks for dropping by and please enjoy your stay.

ELYSIUM: In Greek mythology, a land of perfect peace and happiness. Elysium (aka Elysian Fields), was a land at the farthest and westernmost edge of the world to which the great heroes were carried, body and soul, and made immortal. There they were free to pursue their favorite activities, and worries and illness were unknown.
In Roman mythology, Elysium was a part of the underworld and a place of reward for the virtuous dead. For some it was only a temporary paradise. At the edge of its green meadows flowed the Lethe, from which all souls returning to life in the world above had to drink.

Elysium Theatre acknowledges the traditional owners and first people of Brisbane; the Turrbal and Jagera/Yuggera. We extend our respect to elders past, present and emerging and to all Indigenous Australians including Torres Strait Islanders.
